largest Metro area in the Nation.
- Latinos comprise close to 50 percent of the population in New Mexico and represent the largest ethnic minority group in the State.
- In the Bernalillo County/Alburquerque Area alone, the Latino population exceeds 280,000.
- Latinos are well represented in every private and public sector of the Albuquerque metropolitan community.
- Although the attrition rate among Latino high school students is relatively high, there is a positive trend in higher education enrollment among youth in the Hispanic community.
- Overall Latino New Mexicans have been riding the wave of prosperity that this state has been experiencing for the past ten years. This is evidenced by the fact that the middle class has been steadily increasing within the Latino Community.
